State of Illinois to purchase Near West Side office building as part of long-term plan to leave Thompson Center

The state of Illinois will pay nearly $73.3 million to buy a Near West Side office building as part of its long-term plan to consolidate Chicago offices and eventually leave the controversial James R. Thompson Center in the heart of the Loop.
